Thom Yorke has released a new remix of the Radiohead classic “Creep”. The new slow-mo render is called “Creep (Very 2021 Rmx)”.
Living up to its namesake, the remix unfolds slowly over nine minutes. This suits our pandemic era, where the sense of time is distorted and singular moments can seem both fleeting and prolonged simultaneously. Woozy synths and reverb reinforce the feeling of bewilderment and uncertainty. The accompanying video for the song features illustrations by Jun Takahashi.
In June, Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance at the Foo Fighters’ reopening concert at Madison Square Garden where they took over the alternative rock standard, a song Chappelle has already covered several times.
Yorke and Jonny Greenwood recently announced a new project called The Smile, which also features drummer Tom Skinner and his longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich. The group released seven new songs during Glastonbury’s Live at Worthy Farm livestream in May. Yorke’s newest solo album, Anima, released in 2019 and Radiohead’s ninth album, A moon shaped swimming pool arrived in 2016. The band reissued the seminal album OK Computer in 2017.
