A Virginia gunman is the third person to be arrested near the United States Capitol in three days as law enforcement fortifies the area for inauguration day.

Guy Berry, 22, was arrested Sunday afternoon for carrying an unlicensed pistol and possessing a high-capacity ammunition feeder and unregistered ammunition, according to the WJLA.

The gun was “clearly visible in a holster” as the suspect walked near Washington’s National Mall, police told the local ABC branch.

Berry was carrying three high capacity magazines and more than three dozen unregistered cartridges, the report said.

On Saturday, a Connecticut woman was arrested after cops said they tried to force their way past a security checkpoint, posing as a law enforcement officer.

The day before, another heavily armed Virginia man had been charged after attempting to pass through a checkpoint with false inaugural credentials. Police found him in possession of an unregistered weapon and more than 500 rounds.

The National Mall is closed to the public following the deadly Jan.6 uprising on Capital Hill, and people have been urged to avoid the area.

Some 25,000 National Guard troops descend on Washington to shore up the Capitol for the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday.

Most of the country’s 50 states have stepped up security in anticipation of violent gatherings of people who mistakenly believe the election was fraudulently stolen from President Trump.

Gatherings of armed protesters in Lansing and Columbus on Sunday went off without violence.
