A heavy metal guitarist accused of being part of a group of rioters on Capitol Hill who sprayed police with “bear spray” was arrested on Sunday, according to the FBI.

Jon Schaffer, a founding member of a Florida-based heavy metal band called Iced Earth, faces six counts, including committing an act of physical violence in a Capitol building, the FBI office at Indianapolis. tweeted.

Schaffer was first identified after his image appeared on an FBI poster searching for rioters who “illegally entered” the Capitol during the deadly Jan.6 siege, the Indianapolis Star reported.

He has attended Trump rallies before and once appeared as a guest on the radio show of far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the newspaper reported.

The four members of Schaffer’s group had issued a statement denouncing the riots.

“We hope that everyone involved on that day will be brought to justice to be investigated and held accountable,” the statement said.

“Heartbroken, we send our love and compassion to all who have felt the pain of the events of January 6.
