According to the National Weather Service, storms accompanied by "gusty wind and hail damage will be possible from Georgia and eastern Tennessee to the northeast through the Carolinas to southeast Virginia on Monday, as well as only on the north of Mississippi and western Alabama ".
"Spring has come and the weather season has arrived," said CNN Meteorologist Pedram Javaheri.
Javaheri said parts of Mississippi, Georgia – including Atlanta – as well as Charlotte, Richmond and Raleigh could be affected by the storms.
He also warned of a risk of flood due to heavy rains expected in the already-saturated Mississippi Valley.
Later in the week, another storm system is expected to leave the Rockies and dump Colorado snow into the Great Lakes.
The storm could create blizzard conditions in parts of the High Plains from Wednesday to Thursday, said CNN meteorologist Michael Guy.
Along with this storm system, a drastic temperature wave in the north of the country ranges from 10 to 20 degrees above normal to 15 to 20 degrees below normal until the end of the week, said Guy.
