The helicopter crashed at approximately 12:30 pm Corinne Zilnicki, a Coast Guard Petty Officer, about one kilometer south of the island of Kent, Maryland. The cause of the accident is unknown.

One brother of one of the men was "boating nearby" when he saw the accident and informed the Coast Guard, she said.

First responders found debris in the area but did not find the men, said Scott Wheatley, Deputy Chief of Emergency Services for Queen Anne County.

Lifeboats from the Coast Guard post in Annapolis, a diving team from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and several other agencies are involved in the search for missing men.

The accident occurred near Bloody Point, in Queen Anne County, south of the Bay Bridge. The Bloody Point Hole is the deepest part of the bay, 174 feet below sea level and about one kilometer west-southwest of the southern tip of Kent Island, according to Maryland Geological Survey.

This story is growing.
