Helicopter egg drop brings Easter event in this district of Paï to a whole new level

Northeastern Philadelphia won the Easter Egg Battle.

Not that there was a contest to start – but if there had been "The Easter Experience", as it is called, would clearly be winning.

The reason? A helicopter.

The CityReach Church, in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia, will drop thousands of eggs from a helicopter at 1:45 pm. April 20th. The fall of the eggs goes down to River Fields along State Road, according to the Northeast Times.

The event is organized with the help of Councilor Bobby Henon of the Sixth District of Philadelphia.

The drop of eggs is intended for children aged 3 to 12 years. Registration begins at noon. Children will be kept away from the drop zone, which will be connected during the drop. The eggs will be released while the helicopter is between 150 and 200 feet from the ground, reports the Northeast Times.

There will be 30,000 Easter eggs involved in the event, though not all will be dropped from the helicopter. Of these 30,000, 500 will contain cash and gift certificates. The majority of these eggs will be filled with sweets.

The event is not just a hunt for eggs. The Easter experience will also include make-up, inflatable houses, games and food. The Easter Bunny was also waiting to make an appearance. More than 1,000 boxes of food will also be distributed to families in need during the event. The Easter experience is free.

The descent of the helicopter will only fall if weather conditions permit. Otherwise, the entire event (minus the helicopter) will take place at CityReach Church, located at 6814 Torresdale Ave. in Philadelphia.

This is not the only helicopter candy event taking place this weekend. The Harrisburg Senators will drop hundreds of pounds of candy from a helicopter during the team's playoff match against Reading Fighting Phils at 1 pm April 20th. Learn more about the Senators game and get tickets on milb.com.
