After dropping their streak in the Rockies, I joked that they at least had better sweep the Braves away if they want to put up their best guys and give games to rest. Well, credit is due, they at least did it, completing the sweep with a 4-3 comeback win tonight.
After Dave roberts was all talk due to a baffling decision to shoot Max Scherzer, the Dodgers immediately gave up the lead, but then picked it up late thanks to clutch shots from Justin turner and AJ Pollock.

Surprisingly, Max Scherzer has been even better for the Dodgers so far than advertised. Before tonight, he made five starts with a 1.55 ERA and an even more impressive FIP of 1.95. Tonight he only added to his value, dominating the Braves in six shutouts.
He only allowed a single in his first four innings and only encountered problems in the 5th when he allowed a pair of singles, but the only hitter who hit him with an RISP was the opposing pitcher. After dominating the 6th, Scherzer’s day went off in a confused way despite the number of shots: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K, 76 Pitches.
Starter of the Brave Max Fried was excellent in August, entering the game with a 1.36 ERA. But the Dodgers pounced on him early with the power behind Max Muncy go oppo with a homer in the 1st and Austin barnes pulling a dong to the left for a solo shot to bring it to 2-0.
Muncy then hit a hilarious triple from the center wall later in the inning which was not capitalized but was still a hilarious cause Pederson game took the worst route ever on this.
Homecoming aside, Fried has generally handled the Dodgers well, passing six without allowing for more mess.
Coming back to Scherzer’s release, Dave Roberts was doing it made absolutely no sense to anyone. It was so absurd, especially with Blake Trains and Kenley jansen unavailable, that people were introspecting what exactly was going on. Literally analyze every ground in Scherzer’s exit and look for ground he may have been injured on, simply because the movement made so little sense.
Update: At least it was a real injury.
So of course in the midst of our confusion, Brusdar graterol drop a single to start 7th, then drop a two-round bomb to Eddie Rosario.
Alex Vesia was charged with the 8th and allowed a home run for his second straight game, with Dansby Swanson line up a high fastball for a 3-2 lead.
Taking Fried’s place, Richard rodriguez took out the first two men in the 7th, but then walked and gave up an infield single. Of course, one of these two outs was Corey seager almost homering.
This led Roberts to strike with Cody bellinger, another odd choice since you’re just looking for any basic move in this situation, and the Braves responded with Tyler matzek, which obtained harmless soil. He continued in the 8th, giving up a brace in the lead, but gaining ground from Muncy which only moved the runner and removed holds. Mookie betts for his fourth K overnight.
Chris Martin then came in to face Justin Turner, and he was successful again in his career with a six-hole single to tie the game. To add, after a key walk from Corey Seager, AJ Pollock gave the Dodgers the lead with a single in the same hole to make it 4-3.
Joe kelly got the 9th, and miraculously, he got three routine takedowns to win it.
