When Ford first announced the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, most thought that the 567 kW sitting under the hood would be enough to please those who buy them, but not to Hennessey.
In Hennessey's fashion, the tuning house took the already supercharged and supercharged 5.2-liter V8 to extract a monumental amount of power.
Three performance sets for the muscle car have been announced, the Venom 850 being the basic model. Although it is the basic model, this poor quality vehicle supports 850 horsepower (634 kW) and 982 Nm of torque. These figures are achieved through the use of a new compressor, long tube collectors and a new induction system.
In addition to improved performance, the 850 features an updated interior with embroidered seats and Hennessey logos throughout the cabin.
The Venom 1000 is right in the middle of the three. It produces 1000 hp (746 kW) and 1151 Nm of power. A 3.0 liter compressor installed on the V8 and a new power system help to achieve this huge power figure.
Unsurprisingly, Hennessey's three-year warranty on the Venom 850 drops to one year with this package.
If you are ready to spend a lot of money on the showroom and the gas pump, the Venom 1200 is for you. 1200hp (895kW) is under the hood of this monster and quite serious engine work has taken place.
Here, the compressor has been replaced by a dual-turbo configuration and the engine now contains new pistons and rods to cope with all the heat and power from the turbos.
In order to get all this power on the ground, we can imagine that some owners will exchange the standard tires against a pair of radial resistance tires in the hope of getting some grip.
Venom's prices have not yet been announced, but it is estimated that the GT500 will cost around $ 70,000 when it hits the market in the next few years, and the Hennessey price will be a significant step forward.
