ST. GEORGE – A possible contamination with hepatitis A has caused Kroger to recall some of his frozen berry products.
Kroger Co. announced this week its recall of Private Selection's Triple Berry Medley, 16- and 48-ounce bags, as well as 16-ounce bags of frozen Blackberries from Private Selection. These are often sold in the Smith & # 39; s Food and Drug Stores of southern Utah.
A sample of frozen berries, manufactured by Townsend Farms, was tested positive for hepatitis A – a highly contagious liver disease – by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Kroger removed potentially affected items from store shelves and strives to contact customers who may have purchased the berries.
Although no client illness has been reported so far, clients are urged not to consume the product and must return it to the store for a refund.
Hepatitis A can appear in the body within 15 to 20 days of exposure and cause the following symptoms: fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stools. If you have these symptoms, you should contact your health care provider immediately.
