SILVER SPRING, MD (WMTV) – The FDA discovered a contamination by the virus of hepatitis A from frozen blackberries in the Kroger grocery store on Friday.

This HAV contamination was discovered by the FDA as part of a sampling mission in the course of frozen berries. The FDA recommends that consumers not eat or dispose of frozen fruit purchased from Kroger and other retail outlets packaged under the Kroger brand "Private Selection".

These products are available at Kroger and other outlets and have a two-year shelf life.

The FDA is working with the manufacturer on this and is continuing its research to determine if there are other products involved.
