Bay State has recorded 7,737 cases of breakthrough as of July 31, according to data released Tuesday by the state’s Department of Public Health. The total number of rupture cases increased by 1,364 from the previous week.

As of July 16, about 4,291,441 people in Massachusetts had been vaccinated, so the latest breakthrough infections represent just 0.18% of the state’s cases.

A small number of those groundbreaking cases – 395 – resulted in hospitalizations, according to the state. Hospitalized breakthrough cases represent only about 0.009% of fully vaccinated individuals.

The number of revolutionary cases leading to death has risen to 100, which is only 0.002% of those fully vaccinated.

Separated from groundbreaking cases, Massachusetts has seen a slight increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The state now has nine counties that meet the threshold for updated mask guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, up from five last week.

The guidelines recommend everyone – regardless of their immunization status – to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces in areas where rates of coronavirus transmission are “significant” or “high.”
