GREEN BAY – The Packers have selected their initial list of 53 men, which includes only two quarterbacks.
A rookie unprepared a year ago, Tim Boyle beat the former second-round pick, DeShone Kizer, for the second-best quarterback position. The Packers also released Kizer, giving them only two QBs on their initial 53 for the second time in the last six years.
Boyle earned 112.9 points in all four pre-season games, completing 34 of 57 passes for 356 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions. He started the last two games and led three consecutive touchdowns in the second quarter of the third pre-season game against the Raiders in Winnipeg.
Boyle's pass score ranks in the top 10 QB with at least 20 pre-season pass attempts.
