In a letter sent Wednesday to Biden and shared with STAT, Dave Clark, managing director of Amazon Worldwide Consumer, said the company was “ready to take advantage of our operations, our information technology, our capabilities. communication and our expertise to aid your administration’s immunization efforts ”.

Beyond the larger vaccination effort, Clark also noted that many of Amazon’s 800,000 U.S. employees are critical workers employed in fulfillment centers, Amazon Web Services data centers, and Whole Foods stores, which are also part of Amazon. Clark said these employees “should receive the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible” and added that the company has already made an agreement with a healthcare provider who can administer vaccines on-site at its facilities.

The shipping giant has taken a far-reaching approach to tackling the pandemic since March, ranging from sharing its staff’s web design and research expertise with scientists across the country to using its vast wealth to fund Covid-19 research efforts.
