Here is the M2 clip dubbed V10 that BMW posted and tried to erase from the internet

It is unclear why BMW did this, as the M2 Competition is far from a bad-sounding car. It wouldn’t have been a sin if they had just added a louder exhaust sound of a real M2 Competition to the clip, but obviously that’s not what they did.

Currently the only two V10-powered vehicles for sale are the Lamborghini Huracan and the Audi R8 – and they use the same engine – so it’s either one of those, or to be honest, one of the BMW’s older M5 or M6, both were powered by 5.0-liter S85 V10s at one point. It could also be a number of other V10 powered cars, of course. These are only the most likely, with Mitchell as well as Top Gear host Chris Harris both claiming to have heard the Audi / Lambo V10.

Either way, it’s fair to say that there isn’t much logic behind BMW’s marketing anymore, so attempting to explain it would be unsuccessful. I guess it’s at least not as bad as Quizno’s “Commercial Rat”. When BMW starts doing things like this, we’ll know they’ve hit rock bottom.
