Here is your first look at the new 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3

There are rear wing structures, then there are rear wing structures. This one is the last, bolted to the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3. This is the new 992 generation 911 GT3 for model code fetishists. For the rest of us, this is the Porsche you want.

These official images therefore show what Porsche has been working on throughout the lockdown. Not a bad project. Unfortunately, there isn’t really a lot of official information, but a measured estimate turns into something really rather tempting.

It will most likely feature a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, as the last GT3 had one, and last year’s excellent 911 Speedster – overseen by Mr. GT3 Andreas Preuninger – had one too. . This Speedster has an emissions-driven exhaust system, individual throttle bodies and even higher pressure steering injection, resulting in 503 hp. So expect this new GT3 to be a 500+ horsepower machine.

We also suspect that it will be offered as a manual, because again the latter was, and Porsche knows its audience in complex ways and the type of enthusiast who covets a GT3. Yes, the textbooks are slower, but above all more fun.

Not that this GT3 will be slow. There is no doubt that Porsche has been keeping an eye on Mercedes-AMG’s recent exploits at That German Racetrack, and will be eager to make it one of the Banzai Black Series GTs. All recent GT3s have been what you might call ‘close at hand’ around the ‘Ring’, remember.

What else, what else? It seems slightly threatening, especially in this prototype. This rear spoiler is a ‘gooseneck’ setup, which manages to infuse both a) purebred pedigree and b) incredible beauty into one meaty package.

It will likely be available for purchase early next year for over £ 150,000. Last time, Porsche offered a “Touring” version of the GT3, which would be a strong possibility for this new car. And there will almost certainly be an “RS” version. Because Porsche.
