It’s New Years Eve, but it’s also still 2020, so we believe that many people will celebrate the arrival of the New Year from the comfort of their own homes. For players who have played Animal Crossing: New horizons, however, there is still a way out in town. Right now and until midnight tonight, Tom Nook and Isabelle are hosting the New Years Eve event with free giveaways, fun seasonal items, and a countdown to the New Year.

Tom will be handing out Party Poppers and Isabelle will be giving players a Light Stick, which everyone will apparently wave at midnight.
The square is all decked out in balloons, a cart with New Year’s party supplies, and a massive countdown that heads to the big time 2020 will happily end. Take a walk around the city and also check in with the locals, who prepare the evening themselves. We met more than one resident who needed a little help with the countdown to 2021.
Once the dark of night comes and the timer approaches midnight, be sure to jump into the game, where everyone will gather in the square near the timer. According to YouTuber Crossing Channel, who has traveled through time to see what is to come, everyone will have their light sticks and count until midnight together. It’s a really nice touch to the game, which celebrates many holidays, to have a way for players to celebrate together. Players can even fly to other islands via Dodo codes to share the moment with their loved ones.
