If you've been one of those who have adopted Google+ as an alternative to Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, now is the time to say goodbye to Google's latest attempt to create an online community. connecting its users and its various applications and services.
On April 2, Google intends to close Google+ for consumers. He intends to rework the social network for corporate clients.
Why does this happen?
Google said close Google + because the service is not well used, which makes it difficult to maintain the high level that could be expected.

But there may also be other factors at play. Google+ suffered a major data leak in March 2018 and shortly after the announcement of Google+'s closure in August 2019.
Then, in December 2018, Google said it discovered a bug in a Google+ API in November. The message stated: "No third party has compromised our systems and we have no evidence that application developers who had had this inadvertent access for six days were aware of it or had access to it. makes a bad use. " This nonetheless prompted Google to postpone Google+'s closure until April 2019.
Not sure if you have a Google+ account?
Google stated that it was sending an e-mail to anyone who owned a Google+ consumer account. For more peace of mind, you can check if you have an account with these simple steps:
- Visit more.google.com.
- Sign in with your Google Account.
- Check at the top left of the screen. If the button says "Join Google+," you do not have a Google+ account. If a banner says "Your Google+ account will disappear on April 2, 2019", you have a Google+ account.
All this affects only consumer-grade Google+. If you're a G Suite customer, Google+ will still be available – and there's plenty of other information online.
What will happen when Google+ closes?
- Your Google+ account will be deleted.
- Any Google + pages you have created will be deleted.
- All content will be removed from Google+ consumer accounts.
- Google+ photos and videos in your album archives will be deleted.
- None of your Google+ followers will be able to stay in touch via Google+. So, decide now if you want to keep in touch with them and how you can do it. You can, for example, post something with alternative methods to follow you, which will be available until Google+ closes.
What will be the effects on other Google sites and services?
Other Google services you use may be affected based on your usage of Google+. For example:
- Events created in Google+ and people's birthday in your Google circles will not be displayed in your Google Calendar. If you've created events or Google Circles friendships directly in Google Calendar, they will not be deleted.
- Blogger sites and other sites using Google+ for comments will have their comments removed. You can download comments as part of the process of backing up your data – see below for more information.
What about your Google Account?
Your standard Google Account will not be deleted or affected in any way, and other Google services will not (either unless they use Google+ data).
For example, these services will not be affected:
- Google Photos
- Gmail
- Youtube
- Google Maps
- Google Drive
- Your email address gmail

act now
On April 2nd, Google+ will not go away overnight. The task of deleting all accounts and deleting all content will take time for the Google backroom team.
For example, if you return to Google+ after April 2, your account's content may remain visible.
But do not let that make you complacent. Make sure everything you need is downloaded before the April deadline, so your data is completely safe and secure.
