Here's how two soldiers from Fort Stewart plotted the murder of a third, according to police

A police officer from St. Joseph Township, Michigan, told a Berrien County judge on Wednesday that Spc. Kemia Hassel, 22, had spent months preparing for the murder of her husband, Sgt. Tyrone Hassel, 23, in the hands of his boyfriend, Spc. Jeremy Cuellar, 24, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette.

During the preliminary hearing, Mike Lanier told the court that both parties had exchanged their plan on Snapchat, a social media platform that removed photo and video messages as soon as they were viewed. He testified that Spc. Hassel told the police that she was planning the death of her husband, the Gazette reported.

The two men had an affair, state attorney Michael Sepic said in a January press release.

"The motive for both to conspire Sgt. Hassel 's death may have been about continuing their relationship and taking advantage of the murder of the army for his death, "the statement said.

Hassel faces a premeditated murder leader and a murder leader involving a family member and a firearm. Cuellar is charged with premeditated murder and using a firearm to commit a crime.

They are both held in Berrien County Jail, according to the inmate records.

Investigators think that Spc. Hassel ordered Cuellar to travel to Michigan in the days following Christmas, when the newlyweds were visiting Sgt. Hassel's family.

Hassel was shot in front of the house where the two men were staying, while he was returning from a New Year's Eve party at his father's house, the statement said.

The three soldiers were assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, Fort Stewart spokeswoman Dina McKain told the Army Times newspaper in January. Sgt. Hassel had been posted there since December.
