For the 14th time in his illustrious NFL career, Tom Brady is one Super Bowl win away.
Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers advanced to the NFC Championship game on Sunday with a 30-20 win over the New Orleans Saints. The expected is a renowned match with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers number one seed next Sunday at Lambeau Field.
The winner of this game will advance to Super Bowl LV, where he will face the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills. (A Super Bowl which, it should be noted, will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.)
Speaking to reporters after Sunday’s win, Brady shared his early thoughts on his impending clash with Rodgers.
“I’m really proud of our team and everything we’ve put in to make it happen,” the 43-year-old quarterback said in a post-game video conference. “There are only four teams left. We are one of them. It’s difficult to get to this point, so we need a great week of practice.
“We have one of the best teams in the league (after) obviously in Green Bay. They are the seed and Aaron is playing amazing. They have great defense so it’s going to be a great game.
The Buccaneers haven’t lost since late November, after six straight wins after losing five of their first 12 games. They won on defense Sunday, forcing four Saints turnovers (including three interceptions from Drew Brees) to give their offense a favorable position on the field.
All three Tampa Bay touchdowns came on practices that started at New Orleans’ 40, 20 and 3 yard lines.
Brady, who signed with the Bucs last offseason after 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, completed 18 of 33 passes for 199 yards and two non-rolling touchdowns in the divisional round contest. He also scored a touchdown late on a QB sneak at all but seals the win.
“I’m so proud of everyone – the whole organization,” Brady said. “Our coaches put a lot of work and effort into getting us to this point and preparing us every day. I just did an amazing job. Guys really get together. It’s a truly unique team. We’ve got great chemistry, we’re having fun in training and we’ve worked really hard to get to this point, as have the other three remaining teams.
“It’s hard to get to this point – there’s nothing guaranteed from now on – but we’ve got to get up there and we’re going to have to play our best to beat one of the best teams in the league. .
Brady-Rodgers will be one of the most compelling quarterback clashes in league game history. Rodgers will likely win NFL MVP honors after delivering arguably his best statistical campaign at 37, but his Packers were blown away by Brady and the Bucs earlier this season, losing 38-10 to Tampa in Week 6 .
Green Bay reached their second straight game for the NFC title sending the Los Angeles Rams 32-18 on Saturday.
