Here’s your overflowing ‘Destiny 2’ Community Event reward

Well, I guess it’s only fitting that the Destiny 2 Dawning Upgraded Community Event ended on New Years morning, and players will be waking up to find their prize waiting for them, no matter how hard they work. ‘they accomplished to get 1 billion Spirit of Dawn. .

The rewards are, of course, a little disappointing. I adjusted my expectations lower as the prices were revealed, but still, it hurts that there is nothing, even a little new or relevant, left here as a final “overflowing” reward. “.

So here is the price list:

• An ascending burst
• A random piece of Exotic armor (I got a Verity eyebrow of 62 stats on my warlock)
• Random Advent weapon (I have a bad cold front)
• 2-3 random old Dawning cosmetics (I have an exotic sparrow and ghost showing)
• One of this year’s joke gifts (I received the Guardian’s Fund)
• The new shader you claim from the triumph of completing the event (not great)

Sigh.

I mean, basically it’s the whole “Dead Dove, Don’t Eat”, “I don’t know what I expected” meme. I knew no, there probably wouldn’t be anything major dropped as a prize here, and yet I hoped to be maybe surprised. An exotic catalyst, all Exotic catalyst, that was what I was really hoping for, which would have been worth doing this whole thing, but a single shard and a random exotic just won’t do it.

Problem is, this sets the bar for future community events, which everyone will assume the reward won’t be worth, so why bother. This will translate to less participation, more potential stimulation from Bungie so that we don’t fail, and the cycle will repeat itself. Even a moderately a great price would have made it seem like anything could be possible at future community events like this, but no, just what I would consider the bare minimum.

That’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I guess, and it’s people like me who put this event forward more than Bungie itself, but I was just hoping something would really rally and would excite the community, and that’s it, as they say.

I find it ironic that the best way to generate Dawning Spirit for this event was to speed up the Legend Lost Sectors race where a frequent prize is… a random exotic, and here we get a Single one of the final price here. I guess an Ascendant Shard is always useful for buying a single Exotic Kiosk or mastering a piece of Legendary armor, but I wouldn’t have said no to loving, 3 to 5 of them, as it is not like this would have broken the economy.

In short, we are there. Go get your things from Grandma’s.
