Hertz is now the latest in a long and long line of companies offering car subscription services. The car rental giant announced Tuesday the launch of a pilot version of a subscription service called "Hertz My Car" in Austin (Texas) and Atlanta (Georgia).
The Hertz My Car subscription service will be offered in two levels, including full vehicle maintenance, roadside assistance, vehicle damage (with a $ 1,000 deductible) and limited liability coverage. The $ 999 monthly level includes full size sedans, small SUVs and trucks. Luxury sedans, regular SUVs and large trucks will be available for $ 1,399 per month. Subscribers will be able to exchange their vehicle twice a month at their own level (Hertz will allow additional exchanges at $ 75).
The prices per month are before taxes and Hertz charges a registration fee of $ 250. There is also a monthly allowance of 2,000 miles. After that, Hertz will charge 0.35 euro cent. The monthly fee will still apply to Hertz Gold Rewards Program.
Hertz's announcement comes just weeks after rival Enterprise also revealed a subscription service. The Enterprise service includes 3,000 driving miles per month and up to 4 car exchanges, but the cost is $ 1,499 per month.
But it's not just car rental services that test the idea of ​​subscribing to your car as a smartphone. Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Volvo and Cadillac all have slightly different pilot programs in preparation.
