Airlines can not easily add dozens of seats and charge even more, but United seems to be doing just that. The strategy is risky, but investors may underestimate its chances of success.
After closing US markets on Tuesday, United Continental Holdings said the first quarter earnings doubled compared to the same period in 2018, exceeding analysts' expectations. Its shares rose nearly 4% when the market reopened on Wednesday.
