High-tech research firm claims to have discovered Atlantis – BGR

If an archaeological discovery would upset the world, it would be the discovery of the lost city of Atlantis. Many have searched for the remains of this mythical place, but no one has been on the point of finding it, and researchers claiming to have found it in the past have all been proven wrong.

Now, with a suite of high-tech equipment at its disposal, a company called Merlin Burrows thinks it could finally locate the location of the city. Needless to say, you should take back everything you read from now with a huge grain of salt.

Thousands of years ago, Plato wrote about civilization, pointing out that his incredible technological breakthroughs and wealth did not equal, and that the city had finally been destroyed by an event terrible. Nobody really knows if Plato wanted his writings to be considered a proof of the city's existence or whether he was sewing a thread to serve as a warning against the dangers of excess, but that did not stop many people looking for Atlantis.

Merlin Burrows, who calls herself a land and marine research company specializing in the search for "forgotten or hidden" things, is about to release a documentary on what he says that could be the ultimate proof of the reality of Atlantis.

Talk with Science liveBruce Blackburn, CEO of Merlin Burrows, said his company had used satellite data to explore an area that, according to the group, could have been the site of the booming city. Their work began years ago and, according to Blackburn, the place was chosen on the basis of Plato's writings as well as other texts.

The place, located near the coast in DoƱana National Park, Spain, was later searched for clues. Merlin Burrows said it was at that time that the company had found what she believed to be remnants of temples and towers. The dating of the material, which is believed to be early concrete, suggested that it was between 10,000 and 12,000 years old, which would correspond to the approximate timing of the period when Atlantis would have existed.

This is not the first time that a group claims the discovery of Atlantis and it is not even the first time that researchers have suggested that the remains would be buried in this specific place in Spain. However, Merlin Burrows says that his next documentary titled Atlantica will ask questions.

With so many false "discoveries" in the past, the archaeological community in general is quite exhausted by the discoveries of Atlantis. If this is the proof we all expect, it's an incredible feat, but for the moment, we have to keep our fingers crossed.
