Highlights of the Yankees: Domingo German dominates Toronto in a white game

Now that the star break is over, the Yankees can resume their winning habits. Four days of rust (and the Toronto Blue Jays) gave no results as the Bombers quickly ended their two losses before the break with a 4-0 win in the Bronx. The Rays, who were in second place, eliminated the Orioles tonight, now leading the AL East of the Yankees east of 6.5 games, but that's hardly a concern given the solid opening which opened on the second half.

Winner of the game

Domingo German has made only two starts since returning from injury and both have been excellent. Tonight, he easily eliminated the Toronto offense, totaling six shutouts without giving three hits. He dropped seven and did not walk, bringing his ERA back to 3.40, and for those who are interested in this stuff, he went to 11-2. The Yankees should always be looking for the depth of rotation, but it is a precious help to find the German in the first weeks of the season.

Honorable mention: Edwin Encarnacion made an encouraging start to his second half, opening the match with a brace at the end of the match, three points behind the mark.

Loser of the game

Did Gio Urshela, Didi Gregorius and DJ LeMahieu all go unsuccessfully in four sets? Tommy Kahnle for giving up two reliefs? There was no clear choice for a loser tonight's match. The Yankees behaved badly tonight, a quality that is usually found in laundering victories.
