Hillary Clinton on Sunday challenged President Trump on a criticized tweet in which he urged progressive congressional women to return to the "crime-infested" countries they came from, solve the problems in the country and "show us how to do."
Trump's sweep did not mention anyone by name, but he was apparently referring to the representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y .; Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn; Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. and Representative Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass. All four are minorities. Trump's tweet has been condemned by Democratic lawmakers as racist.
Trump wrote that these congressional women came from places where the government was barely functioning and yet, "brutally," told the Americans "how our government should be run."
Omar, originally from Somalia, is the only member of "The Squad" born outside of the United States.
Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, tweeted: "They come from America, and you're right on one point: their government is currently a total and total disaster."
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, tweeted that Trump's comments "reaffirm her plan to" Restore Splendor to America "has always been to make America white again."
Republicans have remained largely unobtrusive on Trump's tweet.
Trump's tweet seemed like an opportunity for Democrats to put aside recent tensions and come together to call the president. Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez were recently mired in a public dispute after a column in The New York Times last week.

Pelosi, in the room, downplayed the influence that the four freshmen actually have in Congress. This comment sparked criticism that ultimately led Ocasio-Cortez to claim that she felt Pelosi was choosing the "newly elected women of color".
Doug Heye, a Republican strategist, told The Wall Street Journal that the president was popular in his own party, hence the moderate response from other Republicans.
"If you were a Republican Congressman for 10 years and you were not talking about" birtherism, "are you going to talk now?" Said Heye.

A few hours after the tweet and the commotion that followed, Trump again tweeted: "If the Democratic Party wants to continue to tolerate such scandalous behavior, then we are even more impatient to see you in the polls in 2020!"
