Hiroshi Tanahashi made a surprise appearance at the Wrestling Dontaku night this morning, revealing when he would come back from injury.

Tanahashi made a promo in the ring and announced that he would return to the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors final at Sumo Hall in Tokyo on June 5th. Tanahashi said his goal after returning was to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion again.

Jay White and Gedo then interrupted Tanahashi. White said he should be next on the list of strikers for the IWGP heavyweight title, and that Tanahashi is in the background. The whites attacked Tanahashi and tried to target his elbow, but the young lions who were at the ring's edge stopped him.

A video of Chris Jericho aired at the end of the second night of Wrestling Dontaku. Jericho announced that he would run for the Kazuchika Okada IWGP Heavyweight Champion title at Dominion on June 9th.

Tanahashi has been out of action since clashing with Zack Saber Jr. at G1 Supercard on April 6th. It has been announced that Tanahashi is expected to miss the Dontaku Road to Wrestling tour and the two Wrestling Dontaku shows due to a left elbow injury. Tanahashi was operated on for the injury last month.
