Hitman 3 Kills It, the biggest digital launch in franchise history

Hitman 3 had the biggest digital launch in franchise history, which seems like a remarkable achievement given that the inaugural entry of the World of Assassination trilogy adopted an episodic model. Of course, the game has launched on a bigger platform list this time around – including even Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia – and the industry is generally leaning more toward downloads in these times of a pandemic.

This ultimately means that retail sales are likely down from Hitman 2, so it will be interesting to see the overall performance of the release. Don’t take anything away from developer IO Interactive, though: the title is excellent, and while the launch was a bit wobbly at first, it responded quickly and everything worked out pretty quickly.
