Hoda Kotb is back!

Today's co-presenter returned to Studio 1A on Tuesday after her maternity leave and, after taking part in a family reunion at the top of the show today, she sat down with the co-presenter. host of the fourth hour, Maria Shriver, for even more festivities.

There was a brass band, sand from his favorite beach, a tray full of muffins and more. But these treats were not what made the big day of Hoda special.

She is! And she reminded us when she talked to Maria about her last night of maternity leave and her new calm.

The 55-year-old woman was absent from work for nearly five months after welcoming her second child, Hope, into her family, but that's her 2-year-old daughter, Haley, who shared a particularly moving moment with Mom Monday evening.

"I put Haley in bed, and it was a bit like the beginning of this new (transition) work resumption," Hoda recalled. "Every night I read to her – and I slept with her on the bed – and she put my arm around my neck and said:" Are you comfortable? "But she never rests on me It's not his thing. "

At least it was only last night.

"And last night, she did it for the first time." She said: "I'm going to put my head here," he said. Hoda said pointing to his heart. "And she put her head there, and I read her the book and I could not believe it.I thought to myself:" I wonder if she knows how calm I feel, like at how comfortable I feel … my free time and my time back to work, as if I felt calm right now, oddly. "

She said "strangely" because, despite this feeling of calm and peace, she was in tears just to talk about it.

Who could blame him for letting these emotions flow? She has just returned from what she today calls "the most beautiful summer of her life", in which she spent every day enjoying these precious moments with her daughters.

It was not just fun; it changed life.

"I think I was previously defined by what I did and I liked it too," she said. "But all of a sudden, it hit me, I was like:" Yes, I understand now, I understand, you are defined by what you wear. "

And she carries her daughters in her heart.

"I suddenly feel very clearly about life," Hoda added. "I'm going to work as hard as I've ever worked – and I can not tell you how happy I am to be back – but I also know that I have my world in check. probably for the first time. "

She attributes this largely to her extended maternity leave, an option she would like to all women.

"You're better," she smiled. "You're coming back more complete, you're coming back, there's nothing I want to do more now than coming here and doing this."
