The criticism of President Trump by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, in a recent book, is that the Commander-in-Chief will not subscribe to Beltway standards, according to Hogan Gidley.
Trump is trying to keep his election promises, which is largely unrelated to Washington's establishment, Gidley, deputy press secretary for the White House, told The Todd Starnes Show on Friday.
"As with everything about this president, he is moving at the speed of" Trump, "said Gidley.
"It does not move at the icy pace of the DC – the decorum of the DC that is everywhere does not necessarily correspond to something it subscribes to because it wants to get things done."

Trump excoriated Ryan on Twitter after the former Wisconsin congressman said the president "did not know anything about the government".
"I wanted to scold him all the time," Ryan said, according to quotes from Politico correspondent Tim Caron's new book "American Carnage."
In response to Ryan, the president mocked his loss in 2012 – while he was the vice-presidential candidate for then-presidential candidate Senator Mitt Romney – and he qualified as "failure".
"Paul Ryan, a vice-president and former House speaker, whose accomplishments were atrocious (except in my first two years as President), has finally become a long-standing failure, leaving his party in the trap both fundraiser & leader … "Trump tweeted.

In the Alberta book, Ryan claims that Trump has a penchant for "instinctive reactions" and that the then President and his fellow legislators have had to try to "prevent him from taking any bad decisions ".
On his show, Starnes described Ryan as "gagging", adding that it was clear that the ex-legislator had attempted to "sabotage" Trump's agenda.
The president "is perfectly right to call him," said the host.
