Homeworld 3 is coming, hell yes

Twenty years after the release of the first game in the series, we learned today that there would be a third main line. Natal world Thu.

Gearbox announced the title today at PAX West, the development being entrusted to Blackbird Interactive, the studio behind the recent Homeworld remastered games but the Natal world prequel Kharak Deserts as well as.

Here is the first trailer:

This is a sequel full, taking the history of the previous main games (remember, the excellent Cataclysm not treated like a cannon) and promising the return of House world 3D signature real-time combat in space.

Like someone who likes Natal world From the bottom of my heart this is incredible news, yet the announcement is strangely appealing. Despite the publication of the game by Gearbox and the fact that it comes from an established studio that has to its credit several successful releases, Home World 3 will be funded by the crowd.

It's only very early in development, the idea being that a campaign on Fig will play an important role in financing the development of the rest of the game. This is on the part of World of the house 3 Press release:

The campaign will allow Homeworld's long-time fans to become investors in Fig and participate in the future success of the game. In addition, investments and pledges will provide developers with an opportunity to say what they expect from Homeworld 3 via a donor survey. This survey would include elements such as its characteristics, priorities and even what the collector's edition would include.

I mean … it's Home World 3I'm sure it will bring in millions, but it raises the question of why Gearbox does not fund just this game.

For now, I'm just going to impregnate myself the fact that Homeworld 3 is comingand linger for an uncomfortable time on this early conceptual art of the game.
