While the Milton Keynes-based team has considered Honda a long-term project to host the world championship, it is already praising its first partnership.
Red Bull's pre-season trials have been encouraging in Barcelona, Spain. Max Verstappen completed 128 laps and set the fourth fastest time.
"Power is a dominant factor, but I must say that installing this engine in the chassis is probably the best we've ever had," said team leader Christian Horner.
"When you look at how integrated it is into the chassis, it's really a beauty thing.
"The entire team of engineers working together with Honda has done a great job in installing what looks like a Swiss clock on the back of our chassis."
Earlier in the day, Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost, whose outfit is also provided by Red Bull, said he was confident his sister team could win races this year.
Motorsport.com asked him if he shared Tost's optimism. Horner said: "I'm sure Franz will be on the podium this year too!
"It's great to have Franz's enthusiasm and optimism. We're excited to be working with Honda in what is a true partnership as opposed to a customer relationship." – and we already feel the benefits of that.
"It will not be a quick process, there is no quick fix, and I think the more organizations learn about their relative strengths, strengths, and weaknesses, the higher the growth potential." we are not really putting any scale of time on that. "
Horner also revealed that Honda's readiness for the pre-season test program was also ahead of what his team had with Renault in recent years.
"Last year, Toro Rosso had already seen great progress and of course, our decision was based on what we could see and measure, and I have to say that up to now we have been very impressed by everything we saw.
"It's the first time in 12 years that our factory has four complete engines, which has not arrived yet."
