Bob Kerrey, a former senator and governor of Nebraska, has always been one of my favorite politicians, partly because his policy was not perfect. In particular, he described his Democratic colleague Bill Clinton as "an unusually good liar" and said that to become president, you had to "want it more than life itself".
Kerrey turned to universities and now to an investment bank, but did not lose the will to break his party's ranks. The usual surfaced in a scathing critique of the current Democrats, where he says that they suffer from two major "illusions".
"The first," he writes in an editorial of the Omaha World-Herald, "is that Americans yearn for a president who will ask us to pay more for the sake of enhancing the role of the federal government in our lives."
He cites, as an example, the crazy initiative in favor of the Green New Deal, the wealth tax and health insurance for all, all of which are adopted by the candidates of 2020.
The second delirium of the Dems, he said, "is that the Americans were deprived of the truth when the special prosecutor, Robert Mueller and the Attorney General, William Barr, concluded that President Trump did not did not make connivance with Russia in 2016, "he continued. think that the full report will change the conclusion that Trump is an innocent man.
These are remarkable observations – but Kerrey has not finished. He also supports the movement to find out what the FBI was doing in 2016 and why he drove the country into the Russian rabbit pit.
"Congress needs to investigate how the Department of Justice has misinterpreted this," he writes. "If the President of the United States is vulnerable to abuse of justice, then God will help us all."
He made several recommendations, including one that the congressional inquiry should be conducted by a non-partisan commission of outsiders. In a brief interview, he said that the investigation should complement, but not replace, anything that Senator Lindsey Graham is doing with the Judiciary Committee, or something that the Department of Justice does or does not do. Inspector General.
As he said in the interview, he wants an independent commission because "we need something that the public can trust".
Overall, the op-ed and its comments are an overwhelming accusation from his party and Washington in the broad sense. Who can discuss?
The problem, of course, is that all Democratic leaders drink the Kool-Aid that America is ready to adopt an extreme leftist policy and that Mueller and Barr protect themselves for Trump and Vladimir Putin.
This is the material of moon bats and aluminum hats. However, if there is a big Dem in power who has the courage to say it, it is missed. All party, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi included, seem determined to hold hands and jump off a cliff.
That's why Kerrey's voice is so important and timely. Let's hope that other Dems will have the courage to join him.
There has been a lot of talk about what is causing the party to fall into madness, the disproportionate power of small masses of social media and the depressed higher education obviously contributing. But I remain convinced that the most complete explanation of all this strange behavior is that it is a deeply wrong answer to Trump.
Trump's Syndrome Derangement is not a joke, it pushes the opposition to make statements and decisions irrational and even insane. If some of the reactions have to do with Trump's unorthodox behavior and habits, it is largely due to the fact that he produced significant achievements for the country, which Dems did not expect and could not be digested.
While success in politics usually breeds imitation, Trump's success shocks his opponents and makes them behave in a bizarre and self-destructive way.
First, there is crazy political madness as hell exposed by representatives Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler. They are obsessed with dismissal and promise to find the facts to support it every day.
They show no desire to devote a moment to something else, which means that they have abdicated their daily work. Trump is their white whale and we know how "Moby Dick" came to an end.
Secondly, the political answers are just as daffy. Take immigration, where Democrats have long supported border security before suddenly opposing it.
Pelosi's remark that the walls are "immoral" contrasts with the fact that she voted for many of the 700 kilometers of walls built under the previous presidents. To say that they are "immoral" only because Trump supports them, that means she is ready to hurt the nation because she hates the president.
Repairs are an example of another type. Why is support for this idea, which has existed for decades, become mandatory for party presidential candidates?
I suspect that part of the explanation involves Trump's success in reducing black unemployment to its lowest level ever. Embody the nascent movement of black conservatives to escape what some call the "plantation" of Democrats. In addition, the left really fears that its almost monopolistic hold on the black vote is in danger.
Thus, in order to deceive Trump among the black voters, the Dems decided to treat them like victims and to distribute to them governmental aids. But again, the answer is doomed to failure, as support for such a radical and impractical proposition creates a contrast that will favor Trump among most voters, including many black voters.
On the political front, 2020 is light years away. But with Mueller having spoken and the leading Democrats imprisoned by their illusions, the point of no return is getting closer every day.
The "I Abandon" tour of Putz
As if on wheels, every time the city of New York slips downhill, a chorus of capitulants declares it ungovernable. This time, the choir is led by the mayor of Blasio.
"People need to understand – even on our best day, if you're in a city, a state, you can not do more," he said, accusing the federal government of almost everything do not go to the city.
Even for the Putz, it is a new low.
His comments reinforce the belief that he has given up his daily work. Lazy, incompetent and corrupt from the beginning, he spends his short days of work crisscrossing the country in quest for a quichette for the presidency.
De Blasio's speech in Iowa and New Hampshire should perhaps be summarized as follows: "Of course, New York is a mess and voters do not like me. Make me president and I will do the same for the whole country. "
At least he would be honest.
Pols hitting the fugitives' ticket
The Calvin Chin reader is disgusted by the rising cost of living and traveling to New York. He writes: "As politicians raised taxes and tolls and introduced congestion pricing to force people to use public transit, they also increased commuter rail fares. Democrats must really want us to leave. "

Title: "Physicists invent quieter aircraft toilets"
This is a good thing, but it is surprising that physicists have had to solve the problem. Or is this what we call plumbers now?
