According to foreign media "ZDNet", South Korean prosecutors recently sued 11 employees of a Samsung screen provider, because 11 employees were suspected of stealing OLED dashboard technology from Samsung and have it sold in China.
The report said the prosecutor's office in Suwon, South Korea, had sued the company's 11 employees, who would produce mobile panel automation equipment. The reason is that the company has unveiled the Samsung OLED Dashboard 3D patch technology. Of the 11 people, 3 were arrested, including the general manager of the company, who is currently awaiting trial. In addition, two people were also suspected of stealing technology, but they worked for another Chinese company and were not prosecuted.
It is understood that the supplier of this Samsung screen, which initially created an independent screen company, receives cooperation with the Samsung display information on the use of equipment plans and panels. They then sold these technological secrets to China and obtained an illegal interest of 15.1 billion won (about $ 13.8 million). Suwon's South Korean prosecutor's office pointed out that the company's robbery employees used pseudonyms, fake calls and fake personal e-mail addresses to avoid being discovered.
The report further pointed out that the prosecution had said that Samsung Display had revealed that the stolen technology had been developed over a six-year period and that 38 engineers had participated in the investment of 150 billion Korean won (approximately $ 134 million) and that this technology belonged to South Korea. National core technology protected by the Industrial Technology Protection Act. Compared to traditional LCDs, OLED displays have low power consumption, high brightness, rich colors, low weight, and high flexibility. As a new generation technology for the screen industry, the future OLED flexible panel market is developing very rapidly.
According to a report by CLSA, Samsung Display produced in 2013 a total of 450 million OLED panels, representing a 26% increase to 570 million in 2018. Due to the rapid development of the market, in response to demand, the related panel industry in China is also actively developing technologies related to OLED panels, making technologies related to OLED panels a target of choice in the market.
