Horizon Zero Dawn logo retroactively refreshed to reflect the Forbidden West

The eagle eyes among you may have noticed that the Horizon Zero Dawn logo has been refreshed to reflect the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West sequel. When the follow-up was officially announced last year, many noticed that it included a Roman numeral “II” as part of its line break. A similar flourish, with an “I”, was also added retroactively to the original.

The change has been noticed by the reader Adam Novice, who sent us this screenshot after reinstalling the game to find out about its new 60fps update:

For comparison, here’s what the Horizon Zero Dawn logo looked like when it was first released in 2017:

Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 PlayStation 4 2

And that’s the logo of the successor Horizon Forbidden West. Interestingly, the number is just a design detail and is not part of the official name of either game:

Do you like this retroactive review? Do you think that defines the Guerrilla Games series as an ongoing series, possibly beyond even Horizon Forbidden West? Let us know in the comments section below.
