That won’t change the outcome of the game, but at least Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul will feel validated after criticizing the referees for not appealing to a match ring attempt by teammate Devin Booker.
Not that Paul needs validation.
After Booker’s shot failed in a three-point loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, reruns became clear that Hornets forward Gordon Hayward patted Booker on the wrist as he followed up on the latter.
The two-minute NBA report released Thursday confirmed that officials missed the foul on a three-point attempt that would have sent Booker to the foul line with the option of hitting three free throws, forcing overtime.
Instead, officials called nothing and the time expired for Charlotte to leave Phoenix Suns Arena with a 124-121 victory.
Paul did not hold his tongue on the no-appeal during his post-game meeting with reporters.
“We watched it right there at the end: Book was fouled out of those three,” Paul said after the game. “Obviously there are a lot of games that happen in a game, but what’s the name of the two-minute report? It’s coming out tomorrow, they’ll say, “Oh, we missed it.
“It took us a lot of games to get there, but it was really a fault. I should have shot three free throws, try to send him into overtime.
