Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling some hot pepperoni pouches, fearing they might be contaminated with pieces of glass and hard plastic, the Food Inspection and Safety Department of the US Department of Agriculture said on Friday.

The Class I recall applies to 12 54-ounce packages of Hot Pepperoni Pouches with a best before date of February 2022 and lot codes 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0321544614. Establishment number “EST. 7721A “appears inside the USDA inspection mark on the packaging.

The recalled Hot Pockets have a better date of February 2022.
A Class I recall involves a “hazardous health situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious health consequences or death,” according to the USDA website.

Approximately 762,615 books of the recalled Hot Pockets were shipped to stores across the country.

There are four consumer complaints about foreign matter inside the hot pockets, the food safety and inspection department said.

One of the complaints includes a report of a minor mouth injury, officials said.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should discard or return it to the place of purchase, the Food Safety and Inspection Department said.
