Hot Tweets: Creation of the inaugural ranking of Baddest Motherf * cker division of Nate Diaz

This week, all hell has been unleashed in the UFC welterweight division as the title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, supposed to be the title of the UFC. 39, UFC 244, had failed, then was almost replaced by a fight between Usman and Jorge Masvidal, then replaced by the fight, the supporters still wanted him, Masvidal against Nate Diaz. Oh, and Khabib Nurmagomedov also beat Dustin Poirier. So let's talk about everything.

Oh, Nathan Diaz, what a jewel you are. The title Violence-weight, created by a certain Edward Alvarez and now held by Mr. Khabib Nurmagomedov, is the most prestigious of the fake titles, but the Baddest Motherf * cker belt breaks records. And apparently, Dana will be making a BMF belt, which is a bit corny, but that's exactly the type of nerd we need and it opens the floodgates. Now, fighters can start creating titles and if that gets enough interest or is creative enough, those dreams can come true. I vehemently argued that the UFC should have made a crown of thorns for the title of the most violent fighter. Maybe there is still time.

Anyway, now that this division has a belt (or will soon have one), you need to know who is in the top 10. Realistically, this division is a creation of Nate Diaz, so the real answer is "whoever it is, Nate considers it to be a BMF," but I think we can make reasonable assumptions. It will be the fighters who strike mainly, who are hard as hell and who are flexible with their weight (the missing weight does not count). In addition, they must obviously have very little f * cks. Preferably zero but certainly less than five. So, given all this, I present the first BMF ranking:

1. Nate Diaz – If Nick Diaz is the Vito Corleone of the BMF division, Nate is the Michael. It takes the organization to new heights and makes it legitimate – with a belt and everything.
2. Jorge Masvidal – Nate called him by name and he will fight for the inaugural belt. In addition, he fought in Kimbo's court. I do not know how you get more BMF than that.
3. Donald Cerrone – In addition to having a ranch he dubbed BMF Ranch, Cerrone is ideally suited to what Nate values, always mindful of the rigor, flexible weight, will speak in this way and will not back down.
4. Conor McGregor – It will surely be controversial, like all things with Conor, but Nate has repeatedly called and clearly respects Conor's hell. He also checks all the boxes as a guy who raises his hands, gives zero, and fights when, where and at whatever weight.
5. Robbie Lawler – Do I really have to explain this one?

You may now notice that BMF rankings have little correlation with recent win-lose records. Of course not. Nate has named Pettis BMF challenger and Pettis has won 4 of his last 10 fights. Gains and losses mean nothing in the field of BMF. How could they with Nate Diaz be the owner and the champion? Whatever it is, crack on:

6 Anthony Pettis – He just lost against Nate in what Nate considers the first defense of his belt (I think). He must be up there.

7. Max Holloway – The man called Daniel Cormier. He is a featherweight. He also fought Dustin Poirier and is committed to fighting Khabib. Also, remember when he literally taught Brian Ortega how to defend himself while he was getting his ears trimmed? It's not because he's incredibly kind that he's not a real gangster.

8 Tony Ferguson – He loses points for the competition only as a lightweight, and because Nate certainly thinks he's a dork, but wins a lot of points for continuing to fight despite winning the title since six fights.

9 Al Iaquinta – Al was away for almost two years because he did not want to deal with the UFC base station. If it's not a Nate Diaz maneuver, I do not know what it is. He also fought Khabib with less than 24 hours notice. If you leave it off this list, you play yourself.

ten. Paul Felder – Felder gets blocked points as there is only a 30% chance that Nate knows who he is, but his buddy has pioneered and fought Mike Perry on a whim. He is a BMF contender, although he probably lost to Edson Barboza on Saturday.

And of course, although this is the first official release of the BMF division, I think we can all agree that Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn was the precursor to the evolution of this concept and that these two people are named Champions emeritus.

This list will put a lot of people upset, but let me assure you that it is completely correct. The order of the names may be incorrect, but the people in the rankings are on the spot. The BMF title is not the same as the Violence-weight titles (Junior, Regular and Super), it's not just about being a fun action fighter; it's about that, but you also have to bounce around the weight categories and reject authority, especially the UFC. So when you say "You forgot Justin Gaethje / Mike Perry / your favorite fighter, this list is invalid", know that you are wrong. Gaethje is only a light weight. Mike Perry clearly gives f * cks, but not inside the cage. These guys are weighty competitors with violence, but they are not Bad Motherf * ckers, at least not in the sense of Nate Diaz.

We will not wait too long to find out, but it's extremely good. Or at least that would be before the switch to ESPN +. I still do not know how the move to ESPN + has hurt the pay-per-view market, but it looks like the numbers have dropped significantly. That being said, Diaz is a legitimate star and Masvidal is one now. After the Askren coup de grace, people from my office asked about Jorge, which does not usually happen. The return of KO plus Diaz and his quick turnaround should bode well for his marks.

Unless Colby Covington runs a gimmick in someone's brain where he decides to hate Dana White more than anyone else, it has to be a "chaos". This week, Cejudo "suffocated" by Valentina Shevchenko between two nonsense and prove that all this was just like a dorkier Andy Kaufman. Meanwhile, Colby Covington has escaped a third title. It's really unbelievable. He has adopted this silly character to fight for the title and every time he has one, he shoots himself in the foot. What hero

To be clear, we do not know exactly what is going on in the Usman-Colby situation, but given what we know about the UFC, its operating procedures and Covington, it's fairly easy to reconstruct. Covington wants to get paid title for a title at MSG and the UFC does not move. Now, Colby refuses to accept on principle. It's actually a very good thing to do for Covington, but it's really funny that he continues to think himself as a huge star while neither the ratings given nor the way the UFC's treated would not let it be supposed.

In addition, to be clear, it is completely foolish that a multi-billion dollar company is a nickel and darken a fighter to the point of losing a big and interesting fight that could actually build a star, but hey, S & P There is one person who is more gifted than Colby Covington to cut his nose despite his face, that's fine Dana White.

Well, we almost got it when the UFC tried to book Usman against Masvidal. If they had done it and then created Leon Edwards against Nate Diaz, we could all just completely remove the welterweight division from our minds. The best way to do it is so obvious and simple that it is depressing that the UFC has trouble connecting these points. Usman fights against Covington, Masvidal against Diaz and Tyron Woodley against Leon Edwards. If you like, do not ruin all that, UFC.

On Saturday, Khabib Nurmagomedov claimed to be the best lightweight on the planet by defeating Dustin Poirier. To be honest, the fight was not close, and for a brief moment in the second round, it seemed that perhaps Khabib was slightly shaken, it was a one-way traffic for Khabib. Normally, such a loss would make me think that Poirier needed a softer touch to bounce back, but Khabib does it to everyone. At worst, Poirier remains the third best heavyweight on the planet. Let's see Poirier go back on horseback and face Donald Cerrone (when Cerrone inevitably loses to Gaethje this weekend).

As for Khabib, Tony Ferguson is the only fight to fight. It's going to hurt so much when Dana silences Tony so we get Conor's rematch.

Frankie openly opposed the fight against Conor and this fight makes perfect sense for both men. But suppose that does not happen and it drops to 135. The only fight to be done is Dominick Cruz. It's so obvious and ticks all the boxes. A victory for one or the other player prepares them for the title and it is a "superfight" legitimately interesting. In addition, it prevents Cruz from fighting against Cejudo, which he should not be able to do anyway.

We can only hope for it. I really think that team MMA or paired fights are a legitimate viewing experience and could have legs if you could understand some of the details. It would never be as popular as a fight, just as doubles do not crush audience odds, but I think it might be a fun way to add diversity to the mix. Maybe it's a legend where only aging veterans can pair up and fight? I'm not sure, but there is a way to do it and I would be very careful about that.

Wow, it was such a busy week that Cris Cyborg officially signed with Bellator MMA, it's almost an afterthought. But that should not be due to the fact that Cyborg's signature with Bellator is one of the best fights of the WMMA at the moment. I rank it among the top five at the moment. Here is my list:

1. Zhang Weili – Rose Namajunas

2. Zhang Weili – Joanna Jedrejczyk

3. Julia Budd – Cyborg Cris

4. Xiong Jingnan – Michelle Nicolini (if you do not know, it'll be a firecracker)
5. Ilima-Lei Macfarlane – Ayaka Hamasaki (this would require more Rizin-Bellator cross promotion, but that seems quite possible).

The WMMA is currently in a strange situation where there are two unbeatable champions in the UFC, but the idea that they are fighting is not so interesting, since Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes have already played twice. So, the best possible fights are all a little limited to the weight-straw division. Fortunately, the weight-straw is an absolutely impressive division that no one can hate. It would take a real square to hate one of the best and deepest divisions of the sport. Glad to have no MMA members, especially those who inexplicably have a major platform on which they discuss MMA, as it would be very discouraging to see someone like that destroy the best division of WMMA because she wanted to look great …
