Milestone, the Italian developer known for motor sport simulations MotoGP and Monster Energy Supercross, went on to develop an arcade racing game – under Mattel’s Hot Wheels brand. Hot Wheels Unleashed will launch on September 30 on all current Windows consoles and PCs, the companies said Thursday.

Hot Wheels Unleashed will feature a local split-screen multiplayer supported by racing action, which takes place on iconic Hot Wheels tracks, Mattel and Milestone said in a press release. You can’t stick rockets on cars, but you can use a turbo boost that spews flames, along with drift and jump controls, to steer you towards the front of the pack.

“Milestone’s expertise in developing racing games has enabled us to transform the Hot Wheels brand into a compelling console and PC gaming experience,” Andrew Chan, head of digital games at Mattel, said in a statement.

Hot Wheels turns 53 this year. Siblings are throwing them through orange plastic buckles, corkscrews, and on top of each other from the Nixon administration. Hot Wheels has lent its name to several video games since 1984; its most recent appearance was a 2016 expansion Forza Horizon 3, which included the orange waterfall track lessons.

Hot Wheels Unleashed will allow players to “drive the cars as if they were playing with the die-cast toys,” according to the press release. The game should also have a heavy collectible angle, as skins, track sets, cars of varying rarity, and other features were mentioned. There’s also a track editor, and creations can be shared online with the community.

Hot Wheels Unleashed will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Milestone Monster Energy Supercross 4 will launch on March 8 and MotoGP 21 arrives April 22. The studio’s other two most recent games also involve motorcycles – October’s Forza-for-bikes sim Walk 4 and december MXGP 2020.
