Hotels.com, supplier Expedia exposed data for millions of customers

The hospitality industry now has a potentially severe safety headache amid the pandemic. Website planet reports that Prestige Software, the company behind the hotel booking platforms for Hotels.com, Booking.com and Expedia, has left exposed data for “millions” of customers on an Amazon Web Services S3 bucket. The 10 million log files dating as far back as 2013 and included names, credit card details, ID numbers, and reservation details.

It is not known how long the data was left open, or if anyone took the data. Website planet said the hole was closed a day after informing AWS of the exposure. Prestige confirmed that he had the data.
