“House of the Dragon”: HBO Max unveils a new trailer

HBO Max has unveiled a trailer for its highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon”. (Watch the clip above.)

“House of the Dragon” is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen Civil War, known as the “Dance of the Dragons”. HBO gave the series an order for 10 episodes and confirmed at a launch event for HBO Max in Europe on Tuesday that the show will launch in 2022.

The trailer, which features quick snippets of various fight and jousting sequences, has a voiceover of Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon Targaryen, who says, “Gods, kings, fire and blood. Dreams didn’t make us kings, dragons did.

The start of production was announced on April 26. It is based on the book “Fire & Blood” by George RR Martin.

“House of the Dragon” recently revealed seven new cast members for the show’s already vast cast: Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson and Gavin Spokes. Previously announced cast members include Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans and Fabien Frankel.

Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal will co-showrunners on the series and also executive producers with Martin and Vince Gerardis. Martin and Condal co-created the show.

While filming in the UK over the summer, “House of the Dragon” was one of a series of shows that were temporarily halted due to COVID-19 but quickly resumed after a two-day hiatus for the cast and crew.
