Houston officer accused of entering Capitol Hill during riot calls for confidentiality

HOUSTON – A Houston police officer accused of entering the U.S. Capitol during last week’s riot requested confidentiality on Thursday.

Constable Tam Pham, an 18-year veteran of the Houston Police Department, resigned Thursday morning.

Pham spoke briefly to the media when he returned home Thursday afternoon.

“Please just give my family privacy,” Pham said. “It’s a really tough time.”

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said on Wednesday that Pham attended the rally hosted by President Donald Trump in Washington last week and then ‘entered’ the Capitol building in a riot that left five behind. dead.

Acevedo said he was “very confident” that Pham will face federal charges in connection with the charges and that he gave the information he gathered to the FBI.

“There is no excuse for criminal activity, especially on the part of a police officer,” Acevedo said. “I can’t tell you the anger I feel at the thought of a policeman and other policemen thinking they are going to storm the Capitol or members of the Secret Service Army.

Pham told the Houston Chronicle he was only there to take pictures.
