Abominable It's not the first yeti movie yet in the movie theaters. Small foot beat them two years ago. There is room in Hollywood for two big yeti movies, especially when they are so different. In Abominable, a Chinese woman (Chloe Bennet) meets a yeti named Everest. She and her friends Peng (Albert Tsai) and Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) help Everest to return to his home on Mt. Everest.

Screenwriter / director Jill Culton spoke with Showbiz Cheat Sheet in Los Angeles about her journey Abominable. Here are the main differences between Abominable and Small foot. Abominable is playing Friday, September 27th.

Children could say 'Smallfoot'

Abominable is a bite for the kids. Culton has a way to help.

"We have a reminder," said Culton. "Someone from my team invented it. They said, "If you imagine a bomb in a bowl and then you say a bomb in a bowl, you'll get it." Is not it so clever? "

It may be better if you just let the kids try to solve it themselves.

"It's incredibly cute to hear the kids mess up the title," Culton said. "I must say it's adorable. I had it in my phone. My friend said, "Here's my five-year-old child trying to say it." It's like, "Abomnimibnimal?" They ruined everything.

Everest does not speak in 'Abominable'

The yeti in Small foot spoke English and had the voices of Channing Tatum, Zendaya and Common. The Everest is really an animal and only makes animal noises.

"For me, he was never going to talk and I was afraid the studio would force me to talk," Culton said. "It was so personal to me that he would not speak just because I think it kept him more rooted as an animal or important creature for me."

Yi (Bennet) has a very touching relationship with Everest without sharing the same language.

"The other thing is almost too easy," said Culton. "I wanted a relationship between the girl and him who did not need those words, it was a complete communication. It was part of the concept, so luckily I never had to do it. It's a good thing. "

Everest has magical powers in 'Abominable'

The yeti in Small foot were just taking care of their own business living on the top of the mountain, hoping that no small foot ever found them. Everest tries to go home, but he has the power to control nature along the way.

"I have to create the tradition, he has these abilities to control nature and he has that kind of musical ability in him," said Culton.

Everest is a four-legged yeti

the Small foot The yeti were humanoid. Everest needs its four limbs to circulate.

"He does not walk on two legs like everyone you've seen," Culton said. "He walks on four so he is not typical. Let's hope this film is a different type of film and is not assimilated. "

That's not to say that Culton was not worried when Small foot went into production.

"We started this movie before that. This film was originally written about seven years ago. The studio has changed. Things are happening and we were not doing it, then we came back and after 18 months, they said, "Can you do this movie?" I am so lucky. I'm just glad they leave us, with the culture of more yeti movies, the opportunity to do it. I think the studio just thought that this movie is so different from this one. "
