NEW YORK – Yankees player Cameron Maybin was in the Yankee Stadium field on Saturday morning, testing his left calf for a good test.
Barely 22 days after an injury that would have taken at least six weeks to heal, Maybin was running outside at full speed for the first time since he was injured. And Maybin was feeling so good that he wants to start a rehab mission next week.

The Yankees will see one of their business goals on July 31 when right-handed Toronto Blue Jays star Marcus Stroman debuts at Yankee Stadium.
"I'm faster (right now) than everyone here except for Gardy," said Maybin with a smile before the Yankees-Blue Jays game.
Regarding the speed that does not match the veteran player Brett Gardner, Maybin added, "Oh, I'm faster than Gardy when I'm healthy! At the moment, I am at 98%. I have to be 100% to beat Gardy!
The Yanks still want to be cautious, but they would like to find Maybin for a depth of field while the slugger Giancarlo Stanton continues his rehabilitation after a sprained right knee that could marginalize him until August.
"This week we will start stepping up baseball activities," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. "Obviously, it's a big step for him, going out and running and so on.
"To be a rather important tension, a few days later (his injury), I remember talking to him and he said to himself:" I feel very good. I'm healing well. "He's fine and we'll see how it goes, the week begins to unfold, then we'll have a game plan showing when he can come back in a game."
Maybin, 32, has been a major contributor this season for the Yankees, who bought it from the Cleveland Indians on April 25.
Maybin beat .314 with five homers, 14 RBIs and .891 OPS in 42 games, including 34 as a starter. He had a hard time leaving the Yankees' match against the Houston Astros on June 21st, with a calf injury. He beat .478 (11 of 23) with four homers and six RBIs in his last seven games.
When and if the Yanks are in top form, there may be no place in the lineup for Maybin, unless the club chooses to have only 12 throwers instead of the 13 they have worn for a good part of the year.
But until Stanton returns, Maybin's job security is assured. Feeling healthy again, he can not wait to come back
"I'm ready to get there," said Maybin.
