Warner Bros. and Legendary Studios were so confident that Detective Pikachu would be a commercial success – it is heading towards a national opening of $ 53 million – that they have already started to develop other films based on the incredibly popular movie Pokémon Games. One of these may even have been subtly referenced by Detective Pikachu.
The film, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the main character, checks the name of the Kanto region, the Pokemon: Red & Blue games that came to the original Gameboy. Specifically, it is mentioned that Mewtwo was established two years ago. This is certainly not a coincidence, as a live action movie of Pokemon: Red & Blue is apparently in preparation. The implication is that we will go back to the events of the original Pokémon rather sooner than later.

Red Blue
In investigating the disappearance of his father, Tim Goodman (Judge Smith) and Detective Pikachu (Reynolds) wander the ruins of a laboratory. Using the laboratory's hologram technology, they recreate the events that led to its destruction and discover that it had already occurred in Mewtwo. Although it is implied that Tim has never heard of the scientifically created Pokémon, Pikachu looks at the image of the horrified creature.
Pikachu reveals that Mewtwo was created two decades earlier in the Kanto region and that it has not been seen for years. Their investigation is interrupted by an attack of genetically modified Greninjas, and they soon fall on Mewtwo. The Pokémon has made peace with nature and just wants to be alone. These discoveries become a background noise in Detective Pikachu, but they could also be clues to the direction of the next Pokemon feature film.

The Kanto region is the main frame of the first two Pokémon games released in the West, Red Blue. It housed a number of landmarks and locations that could be explored by aspiring Pokemon coaches, including eight gyms, various islands, hidden caves and even a giant Pokemon Cemetery known as the Tower of Pokemon. Pokémon. All these would make interesting settings for future movies, especially the Pokemon Tower, because – Come on! – a Pokemon horror movie would be unbelievable. However, a place in the Kanto region is referenced in Detective Pikachu: the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island.

The Pokemon Mansion sits near the lab and was once a more impressive installation. But by the time the character finds the manor, he has long been in ruins. While exploring the building, the player can discover newspapers and other pieces of tradition that complete the whites on what happened to the manor. It turns out this was where Mewtwo was created; the mansion was destroyed while it was escaping.
However, Mewtwo did not really go far. At the end of the game, the player can go to a previously inaccessible area and move into a cave to find Mewtwo himself. It is the most difficult Pokémon to defeat, but determined players can take care of capturing it (usually with the help of Master Ball, one of a kind). But what does that tell us about the Red Blue movie?
Prequel time
Previous reports on potential Red Blue film implied that while it would unfold in the same universe as Detective Pikachuit would be largely unrelated. Pikachu remembering Mewtwo's escape two decades earlier may suggest that Red Blue the film would be put in this time. One of the Pokemon films that would be under development would depict the origins of Mewtwo. Red Blue would make sense. Seeing the island of Cinnabar suffer the wrath of a new Mewtwo would be a formidable action sequence, of the kind Detective Pikachu seems determined to bring to the big screen.

turning Red Blue continuity in the current continuity could greatly contribute to marketing to another demographic group. Detective Pikachu is really a children's movie, with as much Pokemon as possible. But if the producers changed the subject and focused on the path of a coach instead of Pokemon, they could target the original fans of the games, now in their twenties or thirties.
