For the first time in 285 days the Stars and Stripes were in action and they drew 0-0 away in Wales, changed a lot.

And for the majority of the game it was a joy to watch Gregg Berhalter’s squad as the newbies tried their luck, the teens didn’t look intimidated and they were really bragging about the USA game.

Here is a look at the USMNT player’s scores out of 10 for the performance against Wales.

USMNT Player Ratings (4-2-3-1)

Zack Steffen: 6 – I didn’t have much to do other than save money to refuse Johnson. The distribution was good.

Sergino Dest: 8 – Well bonded with Musah and Reyna bottom right. Whipped in some dangerous crosses. Has matured massively since arriving in Barcelona.

Matt Miazga: 5 – Solid on the ball but Kiefer Moore caused him a lot of trouble. Reserved for a foul on Moore.

John Brooks: 8 – Won many air battles and seemed comfortable. His experience stood out and he was so calm on the ball.

Antonee Robinson: 5 – It went well and did his best to move forward, but it didn’t really happen for him in possession of the ball and gave the ball away. Not his best outing and caught up defensively.

Weston McKennie: 8 – Did exactly what he does best stealing a lot of tackles and leading by example. He was everywhere.

Tyler Adams: 7 – Solid and stable but could have been a bit cleaner in possession. Don’t let anyone down.

Gio Reyna: 7 – He started on the right and often drifted inside. Oozed class on the ball with some nice passes and you would think it was his 100th cap instead of his 1st cap.

Yunus Musah: 8 – Well bonded with Dest when he floated to the right. I tried to do a little too much on the ball at times, but his turns and runs from the midfields were superb.

Konrad de la Fuente: 5 – Some heavy touches when he got the ball back. Squeezed up and followed. Took a shot over the bar in the first half after a sloppy play from Wales.

Sebastian Lletget: 6 – Was floating in a false nine and made a nuisance. A few neat films and a bonding game, but difficult because he played out of position.

Substitutions

Ulysses Llanez (71 ′ for De la Fuente): 7 – He looked brilliant when he picked up the ball and pushed a low shot towards the goal which forced a good save. Brilliant.

Johnny Cardoso (71 ′ for Adams): 6 – Tidy on the ball and looked to go forward on his debut.

Timothy Weah (79 ′ for Reyna): 6 – Did some decent runs, gave a free kick and tried to stretch Wales’ stubborn defense.

Nicholas Gioacchini (79 ′ for Musah): 6 – Took good positions at the top.

Owen Otasowie (87 ′ for Dest): N / A

Reggie Cannon (87 ′ for Lletget): N / A
