How does French health care compare to the American system

The French health system, called "social security", is recognized worldwide for its quality. In a report published in 2000, the World Health Organization ranked it the world's best national health system.

While Democrats advocate for government-funded health care and President Donald Trump is campaigning to abolish Obamacare without a clear alternative, health care has become a major goal of the 2020 elections. Many Americans are considering the type of health system that they wish.

Medicare for all has become a mantra for center-left Democrats, with most of their plans calling for a single-payer universal health care system, inspired by the Canadian health care system. But there is another national health system to pay attention to: the French system.
