The sedans are not too hot right now, with crossovers and SUVs blocking them from the buyers' eyes, like a big boy who thinks he belongs in the front row of the class picture. Now that Cadillac has completed its lineup with more people moving, like the XT4 and XT6, it is ready to try again with sedans. The CT5 is making its official debut at the New York Auto Show this week and we know a little bit about it now. First, there are fewer engine options than before. The new sedan will be delivered with a 3.0-liter 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine or a 237 or 335-horsepower V6 bi-turbo engine, depending on the wishes of your heart or your wallet.

All cars come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and transmit power to the rear wheels, unless a buyer pays for the optional all-wheel drive. It comes in three flavors: Luxury, Sport and Premium Luxury. The V6 can be had on the last two.

The new nameplate presents new looks that Cadillac calls "a new direction" for its sedan design, which the company refreshingly calls a fastback instead of a "four-door coupe".

What we do know is that it replaces both the mid-size CTS and the smaller Series 3 ATS in the Cadillac lineup. Regarding the size, it is between the two: its wheelbase is two inches longer than that of the CTS, but its length in general is almost three inches. It is also two inches wider than the CTS but at the same height. In the luxury rear-wheel drive version, with the four-cylinder engine, the CT5 weighs 3,660 pounds, or 3,714 pounds.

With regard to standard technology and safety features, the new sedan will feature a 10-inch diagonal infotainment display, remote start, a collision alert before, the front pedestrian braking, General Motors' low speed automatic emergency braking and the driver 's seat it' s going to buzz if the car detects the risk of an accident.

Anyone who wants to pay extra can have more safety technology, front seat massage and Cadillac autopilot Super Cruise technology. This is the first car to pass the Super Cruise beyond the flagship sedan of the CT6.

The announcement announced that the CT5 would be available to order in the fall, but do not start budgeting for the moment.

Perhaps at that time, the new CT5 will be able to steal some of the attention from these compelling crossover vehicles and SUVs. Or maybe he will not, because no one really wants to be the one to push the big boy out of the way.
