How has Final Fantasy 7 Remake changed in five years?

We are approaching the fourth anniversary of Remake of Final Fantasy 7E3 was announced this week, and Sony took a fresh look at the game at Thursday's StateStream livestream. YouTuber Cycu1 found a sufficient basis to review what had been shown in 2015 and see, side by side, how things have been since.

The short answer is yes, the latest version is actually better visually. That goes for everything, from the arms to Cloud's hairstyle, which makes him look a lot more muscular and worthy of swinging around the huge Buster sword.

Commentators of the video note that there have also been demotions, which demonstrates an overall optimization effort. In the combat examples presented, the last model certainly looks more like a game from the current console, while the older model does not show this age well. Perhaps this is due to clearer lighting, more fluid animations (or, of course, better framerate).

Of course, fans lament that this type of refinement and progressive comparison defines the entire launch process in … 2030 or something of the sort. Sony ignores the E3, although there are announcements to be made with the show, and the teaser on the progress of the game suggests that others will appear in June.
