In Minecraft, players often search for Strongholds to find and open a portal towards the end, but there are more than a few Strongholds in a Standard World Seed that players can research.
Although they generate differently between Minecraft: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, players can find at least 128 fortresses on any given world, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to find not just one fortress, but several depending on positioning. .
In addition to the End portals, the Strongholds have a lot of loot to browse, which is well worth it. Even though the players have already found their way to the End.
Minecraft: How Fortresses Generate in Java and Bedrock Versions
Depending on which version of Minecraft is playing, the building procedure and placement of fortresses are somewhat different.
In Java Edition, standard worlds generate 128 fortresses in random coordinates in designated ring-shaped areas of the map. There are eight rings in total, with the central radius placed at the coordinates X = 0, Z = 0.
The range of the rings and the number of fortresses they contain are as follows:
- The first ring will have three bastions and is located between 1280 and 2816 city blocks from the center.
- The second ring contains six bastions and is located between 4,352 and 5,888 city blocks.
- The third ring contains ten fortresses and is located between 7,424 and 8,960 city blocks from the center.
- The fourth ring has 15 strongholds and is located between 10,496 and 12,032 city blocks from the center.
- The Fifth Ring has 21 strongholds and is located between 13,568 and 15,104 city blocks from the center.
- The sixth ring contains 28 fortresses and is located between 16,640 and 18,176 city blocks from the center.
- The Seventh Ring has 36 strongholds within a 19,712 to 21,248 city block radius from the center.
- The eighth ring is the last ring and is located between 22,784 and 24,320 city blocks from the center and contains nine strongholds.
In Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Fortresses are randomly generated. The distances that these fortresses can generate are undefined and they can even be found above ground, under water and even under villages.

Because there is no set distance for the generation of fortresses in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, they can even overlap on occasion. Since the algorithm generates fortresses randomly in Bedrock, there is effectively an infinite number of potential fortresses.
Some players have even spotted fortresses spawning distant lands on the edge of the borders of a Minecraft world.
