The amount a creator earns with a single YouTube video varies, but there are some factors that can help increase revenue.
Creators are now able to earn money by placing ads in their videos through YouTube's partner program. These ads are filtered by Google and the creators receive a certain amount based on factors such as watch time, duration and number of viewers of a video.
A YouTube creator told Business Insider that lengthening her videos by more than 10 minutes allowed her channel to make more money because she could show more ads. Other YouTube influencers said that placing about four ads on a single video is a common technique used to maximize the revenue generated by Google AdSense.
Creators on YouTube earn a certain amount of money based on their CPM rate, or cost per 1,000 viewings of videos. CPM rates vary from one creator to another and no creator consistently has the same CPM rate. This can change depending on factors such as the location of the viewers of the video and the type of advertiser interested in the content.
YouTuber said that on its three successful YouTube channels, its business-driven channel earns a much higher CPM.
"The people watching this content are neither children nor students," she said. "These are people who have already started their careers and want a transition in their careers."
